Quebec shelters and humane societies: who to call, region by region
For a lost or found cat, you call your city's animal service. Most often, it's an SPA, an SPCA or a shelter under contract. Here are the ones we checked on their official website.

In short
Each city hands its lost and found animals to one organisation: call your city's.
Not sure which one? Your city hall knows, and it's often on its website.
Call nearby shelters too: a cat can be brought in elsewhere.
Every number below comes from the organisation's or the city's official website. Call before you go.
For the Gaspé Peninsula, the Magdalen Islands, Northern Quebec and several municipalities, we found no service we could check on an official website. Call your city hall: they know who handles lost and found animals. A mistake or something missing? Write to us: cevrard.ca@gmail.com

Frequently asked questions
Who do I call for a lost cat in Quebec?
Your city's animal service: most often an SPA, an SPCA or a shelter under contract. Your city hall can tell you which one.
Should I call only one shelter?
No. Call your city's, then the nearby shelters: a cat can be brought in further from home.
